Fixed Income Analyst – 1 Year Fixed Term Contract : 00008VNX

Employment Type: 1 Year Fixed Term

  • To provide research support on the credit sector with a focus on issuer specific research. This will include both fundamental credit profile research as well as relative value analysis and recommendations.
  • To assist the Fixed Income Portfolio Managers in the implementation of strategies across Liquidity and Bond mandates as the primary fixed income trader.

  • Provide support to client service, business development and distribution channels

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Provide research and recommendations to Fixed Income Portfolio Managers on specific credit sectors and corporate debt issuers. Identify potential investment opportunities and monitior those recommendations. This will include both fundamental credit profile research as well as relative value analysis.This will include both fundamental credit profile research as well as relative value analysis.
  • Monitoring, filtering and communicating market information to the Fixed Income Team on a timely basis.
  • Providing credit research and trading input at Fixed Income meetings.
  • Work with Portfolio Managers to ensure all fixed income trades directed by Fixed Income Portfolio Managers and Private Client Portfolio Managers are executed efficiently.
  • Provide support to client service, business development and distribution channels
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Ensure that all Desk/Department activities are conducted in compliance with all laws, rules, regulations and procedures, in accordance with best market practice. In particular, to make sure written practices are in place, revised as necessary to keep them up to date and understood by all employees who are appropriately trained, qualified and approved for the positions that they fill, and kept informed of all relevant changes to applicable rules and regulations.
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of and effectively identify and manage applicable money laundering (ML), terrorist financing (TF), sanctions and reputational risks.
  • Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.

Major Challenges

  • Investment performance is absolutely critical to AMCA’s success as a manufacturer of investment products and solutions.This role, as part of the decision making team for fixed income, is directly responsible for the investment performance of a large percentage of the firm’s assets under management. Solid, consistent investment performance is difficult to achieve due to the constantly changing nature of the financial markets. Success is based on the skills of the investment team, the decision making process and the diligent implemention and execution of strategy.

Role Context

  • The environment and operating conditions of this role would be considered very fast paced, ever changing and challenging. The role requires someone who can take direction, but also someone who is proactive, innovative and deals well with pressure.

Management of Risk

  • Ensure compliance of both general and anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing (AML/ATF) compliance controls as well as operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.

Observation of Internal Controls

  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education, preferably in finance, commerce, economics or accounting
  • 0-5 years experience in an investment role
